New Year - New Word 2022
Now that the dust has settled from New Year and we are in full swing of life, how are those New Year resolutions holding up for you?
Several years ago, I stopped setting New Year's resolutions because no matter how hard I tried, I never managed to stick to them, and I ended up feeling like a failure before I had even managed to get to the end of January.
So back in 2013, I started a New Year tradition for myself. Instead of setting resolutions, I decided to have fun and "choose a word" for the year; this helped me stay focused and aligned on what's most important in my life.
I choose a word that I feel I would like my life to embody in the year ahead. Sometimes it's a couple of words; sometimes, it's a phrase. And I use these words and phrases as a prompt or a reminder of how I would like to experience my world.
Having a word of the year is like sprinkling fairy dust over your hopes and wishes for the year ahead and helps you:
Stay present with what you truly want
It enables you to fully embody what it is that you would like to achieve
Go at your own pace and not get distracted by what other people are saying and doing
Set goals for your life, regardless of how big or small they are
You will feel much more aligned and find it easier to act with intention so you can let go of any of the baggage that stops you from living life in the best way possible for you.
